Matrix – Call on Me

The “matrix phone” is often associated with the iconic phone from the Matrix movie trilogy. In these films, the characters use special phones to enter and exit the Matrix, a simulated reality. The phone is typically a sleek, black device that looks futuristic for its time. One of the most memorable features is the sliding mechanism that reveals the keypad, which became quite iconic after the movies were released.

In the original 1999 movie, the phones used were Nokia 8110s, commonly referred to as “banana phones” because of their curved shape. The phones were modified to include a spring-loaded slider that snapped open at the push of a button, which was not a feature of the original Nokia 8110 model.

These phones became so iconic that Nokia even released a modernized version of the 8110, dubbed the “Nokia 8110 4G,” in 2018. This new version retained the curved design and added modern features like 4G connectivity and a basic app store.
